Yesterday, there was a terrible accident in Seattle.
“ac·ci·dent – an undesirable or unfortunate happening that occurs unintentionally and usually results in harm, injury, damage or loss.”
Sure, that’s the definition, but what that definition fails to answer is “Why?”
If you’re like me, your eyes and ears were probably glued to radio and TV reports yesterday morning when the KOMO-TV helicopter crashed in Seattle near the Space Needle. Sadly the pilot and news photographer died as a result. I pray that God will comfort the families of those lost and all their co-workers.
In times like these, you may have a scripture that brings you comfort. For me, I often turn to Philippians 4:6-7, where God’s word reminds us to be anxious for nothing. And by taking our questions and concerns to Him, His peace, which transcends all understanding, will guard our hearts and minds.
What happened yesterday is truly heartbreaking. My hope is that, in the midst of this tragedy, we will all find comfort in knowing His peace, even though we may never know the answer to “Why?”.
In Him,
Paul
