Last week Duanna Howell won SPIRIT of Giving and chose to give the entire $1,000 to her daughter Codi to support their adoption. They are in the process of adopting three children from Poland. Codi and husband, Justin, need $40,000 by the end of the year to adopt the three siblings and the family sees the prize money as a gift from God allowing for the adoption to take place.
Read the note that Codi wrote to us after she found out that her mom was a winner:
Our family is adopting a sibling group of three from Poland. The youngest (a 9 year old boy) has a disability and the girls are 14 and 15 which means that this is their last chance to find a family. Because of this, we are working as fast as we can to raise the needed funds (about $39K!) so that we can get them home before they lose their chance of finding a family forever.
We also adopted a 2yo with Down syndrome from Poland last year who was severely neglected and malnourished. Disabilities are viewed very differently in Poland and the children are treated very, very, very poorly. My husband, Justin, and I became passionate about special needs adoption after we learned about the awful conditions that these children are facing.
Thank you for your part in helping us to bring our kids home and to change their lives forever!! They will have the opportunity to learn about Jesus and to experience love and care. We couldn’t do it alone!!!
