Your kids want you in their lives way more than you think they do. They want to hear what you think, and they’re setting you up most of the time, they’re telling you about their friends; you know “my friend just did this and can you believe that?!”, and they are waiting for what you are going to say. You’re either gonna speech them and monologue them, or you’re gonna listen and talk about life with them. I don’t think your kids need you to be perfect, but if you love them enough to be around and listen, that’s HUGE, so huge.
I think a lot of parents feel like they don’t know enough about God to disciple their kids; “my kids are gonna ask me some crazy question I don’t have the answer to”, but I don’t think they need any of that. Just to know that you love Jesus too, get in the word with them some, and talk with them about life, that’s what they want from you. Just to know that you need it in your life too and it’s real. That’s what they need.
