Mom and Dad~
It’s late. But the still of the night is heavy.
I don’t have the courage to muster my words to you face to face. But I feel God’s spirit so clearly tonight.
I love you both so much. I’m so incredibly conflicted about everything that is going on between you two. I can imagine you are too.
I feel God prompting me to tell you that it’s worth falling in love again. I suppose He’s prompting me because…I know. He’s shown me this in a very real way because Lloyd and I were passed the tipping point, but God jumped in at just the right moment and swooped us up. But it wasn’t before I realized that when I am closest to God I am closest to who He wants me to be. This is a marital season. I know there will be more. But I hold on to this truth: the thing I know about seasons is that God made them to change.
You need one another. And I know what you think…but what does the Bible say?
Love isn’t a feeling – it’s a decision. Many days it’s a choice. It’s a choice to press through—when you’re fighting it’s so easy to believe the other one is the enemy. But you’re on the same team. You’re Me and Thee:)) Don’t believe Satan’s lies for one minute. He wants to destroy you—don’t give him the pleasure.
I love this quote that I read recently: ‘Maybe your marriage is in a low spot right now. It doesn’t matter where you start; what matters is that you set your sight on eternity. Don’t give up. Marriage is too precious. Ride through the storms, clinging to the Lord, and remember that what matters is not how you start, but how you finish.’ How you finish. Don’t do this.
I’m asking. Pleading with God tonight that he stirs your heart in a way its never been stirred before.
Lord, let something change in the two of these sweet souls—That lord Jesus you would break down all the walls that have been built between my mom and dad. Get Satan out. Please untie the knots, untangle confusion, give them humility towards each other, surround them with folks who are chasing after you and can speak truth to them, help to wash away any bitterness, breathe a breath of fresh air, soften their hearts Lord for you and for each other, hear their whispers, give them the courage to stay and let their love grow deeper than ever. Amen.
From the movie War Room. ‘ The more you do battle for your marriage on your knees, the less you will have to fight in the flesh.’
I love you. I love you. ~Dee
