Black Friday is really uncomfortable. It’s hard to sit in the blackness, the dark, the death. It’s hard to think about my role in it all. I’ve lost people to death. I’ve walked through what it felt like to say goodbye, to clean out their stuff, to only have pictures and memories that remain of someone’s life. There is a hope in knowing they are in heaven, but there is also an emptiness left.
I can imagine when Jesus died there was a sort of emptiness, a sort of confusion. I wonder if they felt any anticipation? He predicted his resurrection, but did they get it? While sitting in the uncomfortable moment of his death did they really know what Jesus did for them? Did they believe it? Did they also feel the excited knowledge that it wasn’t over? Do we today?
Today, let yourself be a little uncomfortable. Remember Jesus and what he did. Thank him for his life. We cannot have Easter Sunday without Good Friday. We cannot have resurrection without death.
Lord, we can’t comprehend today. We don’t even know how to slow down enough to just remember; we want to hurry past this part. But, remind us that today is as important as Sunday. Remind us of the power in what you did for each of us. Thank you!
Kristene DiMarco – It is Well
“It Is Well”
Grander earth has quaked before
Moved by the sound of His voice
Seas that are shaken and stirred
Can be calmed and broken for my regard
Through it all, through it all
My eyes are on You
Through it all, through it all
It is well
Through it all, through it all
My eyes are on You
It is well with me
Far be it from me to not believe
Even when my eyes can’t see
And this mountain that’s in front of me
Will be thrown into the midst of the sea
Through it all, through it all
My eyes are on You
Through it all, through it all
It is well
Bridge [x3]
So let go my soul and trust in Him
The waves and wind still know His name(repeat last line during 3rd run)
It is well with my soul
It is well with my soul
It is well with my soul
It is well with my soul [x3]
It is well it is well with my soul [x3]
ahhhhhhh
Through it all, through it all
My eyes are on You Lord
Through it all [2-x3]
