FIREWORKS SAFETY
The best way to enjoy fireworks is to visit public fireworks displays put on by professionals who know how to safely handle fireworks, but if you plan to use fireworks, use the following safety tips:
- Check to see if fireworks are legal in your area
- Always have an adult present and read labels first
- Use fireworks outdoors only
- Never point or throw fireworks at someone
- Don’t carry fireworks in your pocket
- Light fireworks one at a time, then move back to watch
- To avoid accidents, select one person as the designated fireworks lighter
- Have a bucket of water ready to extinguish lit fireworks
GRILLING SAFETY
- Use barbecue grills outside only
- Keep children & pets at least 3 feet away
- Position grills far enough away from house siding and branches
- Supervise a barbecue when in use
- Use long-handed tools
- Keep grill clean by removing grease or fat
- When finished grilling, let the coals cool completely before disposal
Did you know that more pets go missing on 4th of July than any other day of the year? Here are some additional things to think about for the canines in your house!
- Make sure your dog is wearing an ID Collar and chipped with your current contact info
- Take your dog on a long walk before festivities get started. This will allow them to go potty before the noise begins and tire them out
- If you’re leaving your pooch at home, make sure the windows and shades are closed securely, and turn on some music to drown out the nose from fireworks
