Erica has brought Brooklyn back, a student at Edmonds Woodway High, to talk more about how she is actively sharing her faith in Christ at school, and her efforts to share Jesus with other kids who come to the Warriors for Christ Club. She hosts weekly pizza parties from donations that have been given, and she and others share their faith and pray. She is an incredible young woman and we’re inspired by how she boldly walks through life in her faith.
Catch hope & encouragement with Erica on weekday mornings from 5:00 AM – 10:00 AM, and Sundays from 12:00 PM – 2:00 PM.

Erica:
We draw people to Christ, not by loudly discrediting what they believe, by telling them how wrong they are and how right we are. But by showing them a light that is so lovely that they want with all their hearts to know the source of it.
Those beautiful words written by author Madeline Engel, remind me of my friend Brooklyn. She’s a student at Edmonds, Woodway High, and she shines her faith in Christ so brightly and shares her faith so boldly. And yet in such a winsome way that others are listening, their hearts are open, and Brooklyn is so willing to tell about the God who changed her life. Brooklyn, welcome back to SPIRIT 105.3 How are you doing?
Brooklyn:
I’m good. How are you?
Erica:
Well, I’m just always so happy to talk with you. So something really cool happened recently. You came on the show and talked about how you’re sharing your faith at Edmonds Woodway, and there was a mom who heard you. What happened? Brooklyn.
Brooklyn:
I guess she heard my interview and then she wanted to give whatever she could to help our club. So she gave, I don’t know how many Bibles, I think about 20 Bibles and about a hundred Jesus Loves You wristbands. And then Little Caesar’s gift cards, cause we get pizza every week and we’ve given out we’re on our third or fourth order of Jesus Loves You Wristbands because everybody wants them at our school. They keep asking us for them.
Erica:
What a good problem to have. How does it make you feel knowing somebody saw what you’re doing and they’re like, I want to be a part of that. I want to change lives with Brooklyn.
Brooklyn:
It’s really encouraging, especially, I don’t know. I feel like it is not really me doing the work. I just feel like it’s kind of, I’m going to school and then I get this amazing opportunity to share, and God’s so good and faithful as we step into His will. So that’s kind of where I’m coming from and where my heart’s at, and I am so, so grateful that I get to share what’s happening at Edmonds Woodway so often with everybody on the SPIRIT 105.3. And it keeps us all encouraged at Edmonds Woodway and wanting to keep sharing about Jesus.
Erica:
I think that’s so awesome. What happens at these pizza parties that you throw, Brooklyn? Take us to one. Describe the scene.
Brooklyn:
Yeah, so I get pizza at Little Caesars every week on Wednesdays, and we do these in a cage event where we have, I don’t know, about a hundred boxes of pizza. And sometimes Enoch Walters comes in and preaches the gospel. So he can’t do that obviously every week because he’s going to so many schools. But we get about, I think four or five, three to five boxes every week and we talk. It’s a great way to just say if they don’t want anything to do with Jesus, just to say we have pizza in their room, and then we get to share with them and pray with them.
Erica:
And how do these students react when you do that? I mean, it’s so bold.
Brooklyn:
Yeah. So many people are just grateful that we get to have pizza, I guess. And then we’ve had a lot more people come in, and then a lot of people that come every once in a while come more often because there is pizza, and because at least it’s just consistent every week and their hearts are getting touched more and more. And, I don’t know, I just think it’s such a good opportunity to at least sit and be there as a group together.
Erica:
I think the pizza says, Jesus meets you where you are, and then they pick up one of these bibles that you have there available for them… It’s like Jesus saying, okay, we’ve now met. Let’s walk together a little bit. This is a journey you’re inviting your peers on. What’s encouraging you the most right now? Have you had any encounters lately that have you going, wow, Lord, I can’t believe you tapped me to be a part of this.
Brooklyn:
So, yesterday was the National Day of Prayer. You probably knew that, but we weren’t really allowed to talk to teachers about it just because even though it was a club event just about, we weren’t really allowed to physically invite them, although we did invite many people, and we put posters up, and we weren’t expecting many teachers to come because it’s just been so different. We used to write invitations and just a lot more restrictions I guess, this year, but I was super grateful. There was about 20 teachers that came, so that was super encouraging. And then just how many people are still coming to clubs, even if they stopped every once in a while. And then it was also encouraging one of the teachers, her mom’s really struggling right now, but she has a second period. She’s working. Her mom has covid right now and then was in the ER and has dementia. So many different things, but she’s a strong believer. There’s not a lot of strong believers, but she’s very firm in her faith, a worship leader at her church, and I got to pray with her. And so I just think just little moments like that to pray for people and to, so many opportunities to share about the Lord. And if our hearts are set in that position, like everywhere we’re going to go, we’re just going to make it our top priority to talk about Him. There’s so many more opportunities. So I guess it’s just encouraging to keep our eyes open and it’s not as hard to preach the gospel as we think it is usually.
Erica:
Yes. Brooklyn, you amaze me. I am just so proud of you, and I’m cheering you on Brooklyn from Warriors for Christ Club at Edmonds Woodway. Thank you for hanging out with us on SPIRIT 105.3.
Brooklyn:
Thank you, Erica.
Erica:
Love you, girl. Take care.
Brooklyn:
Okay, love you too.
