I know. The weather is gross. There. I said it. But what does this make possible today? Maybe tonight you can go home and make a wonderful pot of chili. I don’t even like chili and this weather makes me want to make it. Or get in your pajamas early, cuddle with your kids on the couch and read an extra story. Make some cocoa. What does this day make possible? SPIRIT 105.3, I’m Erica. My goal in life is to keep you looking on the bright side, and Natasha is here to help with that today. Welcome to the show. It’s so good to have you.
Natasha:
Hi Erica. How are you?
Erica:
Oh, I’m so delighted to meet you. How are you doing today?
Natasha:
I’m good, I’m good. I needed that little plug on the weather. I’ve been like, oh, for the love.
Erica:
Oh girl. I am so with you. Max and I are looking out the window this morning and we’re like, what is tha falling from the sky? It’s just the weirdest morning.
Natasha:
I know. Agreed. 100%.
Erica:
Well, thank you so much for calling in. I was struck by your story. First of all, my son works at QFC, so I’m a QFC fan as it is, but I just love sharing good news. So, would you tell us what happened to you the other day?
Natasha:
Yeah, so I coach my daughter’s volleyball team and I was at practice and I was kind of scattered and the girls never like having to go to the grocery store. So, that was already an uphill battle. And we get to QFC and my little one likes to carry the wallet. That’s her job. She loves carrying my wallet. And so, when I checked out, she had had it, I paid, and then I just threw it on the little part on the cart that holds things. And it was raining and gross out and it was at night and I couldn’t see. And so, I loaded all of my groceries in the back of my car and then returned the cart, came home, unloaded the groceries, and about an hour later I get… my doorbell rings and we weren’t expecting anyone. And I look out and it’s a man and his teenage son, and I opened the door and they hand me my wallet.
Erica:
Oh my goodness.
Natasha:
And I went, wow, I cannot thank you enough. I did not even realize it was gone. And I was struck because they didn’t just hand it in to the QFC and say, well, I hope she finds it. They took that extra step to actually get out my license, look at my address, and return it personally. And when someone does a good deed like that, I’m a big fan of spreading that. And so, I went on Facebook, went into My Edmonds group and said, Hey, take a look at what one of your neighbors did for me, because this is why I love Edmonds. And this is someone doing God’s work right here. So love it.
Erica:
Natasha, I couldn’t agree with you more. There’s so much wrong. There’s so much hurt in the world. But when somebody does one good deed, you just feel better about everything.
Natasha:
You do. Someone posted a comment that said, thank you for giving me a little dose of faith in humanity again. And that’s what we need to do more of, right? Is we need to spread things like this to reinforce that good people exist, good is out there. And if we can focus on these moments, then it makes our day better. And in the comment prior, a pastor said, who can you bless today? And that dad and his son blessed me with returning my wallet. So, I’m very grateful.
Erica:
Well, I can tell you’re a volleyball coach. What did this mean to your kids? This is like the perfect lesson.
Natasha:
Right? And so we talked about that. I said, that’s a great example of good parenting right there. He taught his son what to do in a situation, to go the extra step, and that’s what you need to do. And we practice doing good deeds in my house. And so, this would just reinforce that other people are doing the same thing we’re doing.
Erica:
Oh, Natasha, volleyball coach and spreader of good deeds. Thank you for hanging out with us on SPIRIT 105.3.
Natasha:
Volunteer volleyball. coach, Erica, I’m not an expert volleyball coach.
Erica:
Even better! You just went up in my book. It is so wonderful to meet you. Call anytime when you have good news. Keep my number.
Natasha:
I will. Thank you, Erica.
