Stepping out from the safe and familiar, into the unknown. Changing jobs, starting college or landing your first job. My oldest son is about to begin his senior year in high school. He is also looking for a part-time job and whittling down his list of potential colleges. Exciting time, right? Well, we learned that through his eyes, it’s kind of scary. He even mentioned he’s not ready to grow up yet.
Have you ever felt unprepared? Inexperienced? Afraid of failing? I was reminded of the story of Jeremiah in the Bible. When Jeremiah was called on by God to be His prophet and to go disrupt business as usual in the kingdom of Judah before disaster struck. Jeremiah was like, “I’m too young and inexperienced.” And God said, “I know it’s difficult work, but trust Me to lead you through it.”
We’re probably not going to be called to be God’s prophet, but we are called to be faithful to God in the midst of life’s difficulties. So that we can confidently step into that new job, new college, new relationship…knowing that God will equip us, as long as we are faithful to him in it.
In His grip- Paul
