There it was last night. My first taste of “oh no, summer’s almost over!” I was driving home and it seemed like the sunset was way earlier than it had been. I had to remind myself that it was only the beginning of August and there was at least a whole month of summer fun to be had. In case you’ve had that same sense of summer-ending dread, here are a few ideas to make the most of the rest of your summer.
- SPIRIT 105.3 Family Field Trip to the World’s Largest Squirt Gun Fight – August 12 & 13
- SPIRIT 105.3 Family Field Trip at Evergreen Beauty College for free back-to-school fun – August 17
- Seafair Weekend – this weekend with hydroplane races on Lake Washington, Magnolia Summerfest, Central Area Festival and more
Don’t forget all the good hiking around Western Washington this time of year. Here are some great waterfall hikes you can take with kids (or really out-of-shape adults…). And, here are ten pacific NW hikes you won’t want to miss.
If you just like lounging around the pool while the kids play, there are lots of outdoor pools around. Enjoy some splashpads, wading pools and beaches to beat the heat.
If the beach is more your style, check these out for a great day trip! Plus, check out these other great day trips from Seattle.
There are wonderful farmer’s markets all around the Puget Sound area and lots of outdoor movies, too!
