What began as a last-minute trip to Seattle to catch the Blue Angels at Seafair quickly turned into a life-or-death situation for Lillie, a certified lifeguard, Division I water polo player, and nuclear engineering intern.
While watching the boat races, she noticed three girls struggling in the water and recognized the signs of drowning that many bystanders missed. Without hesitation, she dove in fully clothed and rescued all three children, including one who was unconscious and tangled in a buoy line.
