On Thursday, October 19th millions across our state will practice the Great ShakeOut Earthquake drill. Your family or organization can register online to participate!
Preparing for emergencies is essential. Practicing the drill as a family, school or business can help individuals prepare to survive and recover quickly if our area is hit by an earthquake. Great ShakeOut Earthquake Drills has a variety of videos to help you navigate multiple situations. Check out the videos below from their YouTube playlist.
What I love about this Website is they have provided resources for a variety of age ranges and people groups. If you are disabled or care for someone who is you can view their safety tips specifically for you. Also, if you have young kids in the home, there are age breakouts for you too.
Further, they recommend preparing kits for 2 weeks to live on. See their full list of recommended items.

Even if you aren’t available or can’t participate in this event on Thursday, check out the site, start having conversations at home about how you will handle an earthquake in your home and start to prepare. Do you have additional disaster preparedness tools or resources? Share them in the comments!
