International Conference on the Shroud of Turin
TRAC Center, Pasco, WA
Event Address:
6600 Burden Blvd
Pasco, WA 99301
United States
Brief description of event:
The Shroud of Turin contains a full-size negative image of the front and back of a naked man that was crucified exactly as Jesus was crucified, yet the image contains no pigment. Why can we see this image? How did it get onto the cloth? When was it made? Could the Shroud of Turin be the authentic burial cloth of Jesus, as claimed by ancient tradition? Could the image be the result of Jesus’ resurrection? More research has been conducted on this piece of cloth than on any other ancient artifact! To communicate the latest research, the “International Conference on the Shroud of Turin” will be held July 19 to 22 at the TRAC Center in Pasco, WA. 33 experts from the US, Italy, Spain, France, and Australia will make 52 presentations on their research into these mysteries, delving deeply and thoroughly into all questions related to the Shroud. The theme for the conference is “Seeking Solutions to the Mysteries of the Shroud”. Most Shroud researchers believe there are many evidences that the image on the Shroud was not made by an artist or forger, and that there are several techniques that date the Shroud to the first century, consistent with the time of Jesus. Robert Rucker, nuclear engineer and organizer of the conference, has used nuclear analysis computer calculations to explain the only exception, which is the carbon-14 date obtained in 1988. Rucker believes that the image was caused by a burst of radiation from within the body, so that the image is a radiation burn, with neutrons in this burst shifting the C-14 date. This concept will be discussed at the conference. A full-size replica of the Shroud will be on display at the conference, and the first day (Wednesday, July 19, 6:30 - 9:30 pm) will be free. Thursday, Friday, and Saturday (July 20 to 22) will be from 7:45 am to 9:30 pm, and will include lunch and dinner. Register at www.shroudconference2017.com. Call 509-375-4770 for further information.
