Cherry Blossom trees are known for their breathtaking yet fleeting beauty. This concept has always reminded me of “us” – you and I – and how our life is but a vapor.
There are several Bible verses that speak to this: how human life is fleeting, temporary, and as short as a “breath,” “mist,” or “shadow”.
- Psalm 39:5 (NIV): “You have made my days a mere handbreadth; the span of my years is as nothing before you. Everyone is but a breath, even those who seem secure.“
- James 4:14 (NIV): “…What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes.“
- Psalm 144:4 (NIV): “Man is like a breath; his days are like a passing shadow.“
I keep my eyes on the UW Cherry Blossom camera to catch peak bloom as a reminder to be present in the moment with Jesus. This is the day that the Lord has made, I will rejoice and be glad in it!
