Erica sits down with one of our very own here at SPIRIT 105.3 for a beautiful testimony of faith. Jordan recently had his car stolen, and despite that unfortunate event, Jordan maintains a positive outlook and calmness through his faith in God. He explains that the lesson is in not panicking but trusting in God’s plan.

Erica:
Christmas SPIRIT 105.3. Hi, it’s Erica. So glad you’re with us this morning. My friend Jordan is stopping by. He’s actually on the team here at SPIRIT 105.3. And first, let’s talk about the bad news that happened the other day. Your car was stolen. I still can’t believe it, but what really inspired me is that you hopped on the Team’s thread to tell us the news and we’re all like, oh, this is terrible. We’re so sorry, blah, blah. And you’re like, wait, wait. Watch what God is going to do. I’m going to report back. Jordan, how did you develop that kind of mentality?
Jordan:
Well, I didn’t do it. God did it in me. That’s really something that he’s kind of shown me in that rewiring of my theology, rewiring of who I am as a person and how I practice my faith. And that really is just understanding that he has to do it in me first. And so, I mean, it’s just so funny because on Sunday, talking about the advent season, Jesus as the Prince of Peace, the pastor was just giving us all these scriptures of peace and how to practice peace, just one for each and every day of the week. And so, I actually, I went home and I wrote them down on my whiteboard and I don’t usually do that. So, I mean, it was just so funny that God was lining up these things through my actions and through His goodness to me, just getting me prepared for something, and spending time with him, just really trying to draw close to him throughout the week. He’s just been walking with me so that when this happened, I just looked at my whiteboard and just saw, oh, Philippians 4:6-7 today,
Do not be anxious about anything. But in everything through prayer and petition, present your request before God and the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
And so really just trying to put that into practice, that is something that God is showing me how to do each and every day.
Erica:
And he has an unlimited amount of peace. Think about it. He is the Prince of Peace, as you just mentioned, and we just need to tap into that. I think that the way that we get peace is by trusting in Him.
Jordan:
Totally.
Erica:
Is by taking his hand. But so often it’s easier to fly off the handle and just put your head in your hands and go, what am I going to do? I mean, you just got married! This should be a really special, joyful Christmas, and now you’re like, somebody stole my car. So how are you feeling the piece? What does trusting Jesus look like for you?
Jordan:
Yeah, so I mean, the very first reaction that I had to that situation was to, Okay, what am I going to do? But then as I shared that information with my wife, very first thing we did was just like, oh, hold on, let’s stop. Let’s stop. Let’s hit the pause button. Let’s bring this to Jesus. Let’s bring this to the Lord. Let’s really sit with him. We don’t have to freak out. We can either take him at his word and actually believe what he tells us to do and to say it and to follow it, or we can do our own thing and lean on our own understanding. And so, as we sat there and as we just brought it before the Lord, we really just sat and we listened to him and allowed his peace to really just really guard our hearts and our minds in Christ Jesus. And that really was the very first step. So, even before I started calling the different organizations, the tow company, the police, everything, the very first thing we did was call Jesus, and just knew that, hold on, he’s been there the whole time, knocking at our door, the door of our hearts. So, are we going to open up that door and let him in…
Erica:
I think it’s amazing.
Jordan:
…or do it on our own?
Erica:
The fact that you stopped, I think that’s the thing. So often I just plod on in my humanness and freak out. Corrie Ten Boom is one of my favorite people who ever lived. And she says, there is no panic in heaven, only plans. And I’m trying to live that out because I’m Italian and I panic a lot. You know what I mean? But I’m just so inspired by what you’re sharing here, and I’m excited with you. You’ve really taught me something this week to go, Wait a minute. Not AHHH! but oh, you’ve got a plan God, and I’m going to trust you. So, keep us posted. Yeah, for sure. We know God is up to something in your life, Jordan.
Jordan:
Oh yeah, He is.
Erica:
Thanks for hanging out.
Jordan:
Yeah, thanks Erica.
