Born with Down Syndrome, Leo has become a radiant source of hope, not just for his mom, SPIRIT 105.3 artist Rachael Lampa, but for everyone who encounters their journey. Favorite moments include Rachael recounting the moment Rachael got her blood test results back during her pregnancy, confirming a Down Syndrome diagnosis. She called her mom, telling her through tears. Her mom, having worked as a nurse with children with special needs early in her career, said “Sweetheart, what’s the problem?” and Rachael knew in that moment; its all going to be okay.
Rachael’s husband talks about how Leo instinctively reaches for people, particularly men – and as these grown men who are rough around the edges hold Leo, he thaws their heart, and its like a miracle to watch.
