I’m convinced that God has a sense of humor. Anyone who knows me will tell you that I used to dislike Pavel (with a passion). There wasn’t really a reason for it, but everything he did made me mad – singing off key, misspelling words, calling me beautiful… that infuriated me! But then he went on a mission trip to Ukraine. While he was still there, he texted me on my birthday to wish me a happy birthday. At that point I was interested and curious to see how things were going, so we wrote back and forth. When he came back he asked me out and I said yes even though the physical attraction wasn’t quite there yet. (I had never doubted that he was a good guy or that God would approve; the problem was I just didn’t like him!) I would pray this prayer in those early days: God, either give me feelings for him or take away his feelings for me! And the unthinkable happened. I fell head over heels in love with the guy who I thought had a 0% chance. It turns out, I snagged the best guy ever! I’m so grateful for unanswered prayers – if I had it my own way, my life would look very different right now. God worked in spite of me. Pavel is such an amazing husband and Daddy to our 4 kiddos – he’s very involved and very selfless. How I thank God for Him!
