When doubts filled my mind, your comfort gave me renewed hope and cheer. Psalm 94:19
Have you ever found your thoughts spinning in a downward circle? You keep reliving an awkward conversation, feeling guilty for not doing enough for others, worrying about your kids and if you’re a good enough parent.
We all have dozens of interactions every day that either build us up or tear us down. And, let’s be honest, sometimes we just overthink things. We need something outside of ourselves to get us back on track, help us recognize what’s true and what’s a lie, and renew our hope that God loves us and we’re acceptable.
God never intended for us to think our way into despair. Jesus came to give us hope. So, if you find yourself drowning in doubts and worries, reach out and take hold of God’s lifeline for you.
First, remember that God is the safest person to be honest with and you can tell Him anything. So, tell Him!
Then go to another person you trust to tell you the truth and let them in on what you’re struggling with. When we are honest with safe people, we realize we are not alone. C.S. Lewis put it this way:
“Friendship is born at that moment when one person says to another: ‘What! You too? I thought I was the only one.’”
PRAYER: Lord, here’s what I’m thinking … (tell him everything). Please help me know what’s true and what’s a lie. And please bring me a trusted friend to confide in. Amen.
ACTION: Please share the hope you have experienced by listening to SPIRIT 105.3 by giving!
