If you listen to SPIRIT 105.3, you probably hear us say from time to time that we’re a community supported radio station, and you may wonder: What is a community supported station?
A community supported station is a radio station supported by listeners who give generously through financial donations and by advertising.
It’s all about community
Being community supported means that we are here for you! SPIRIT 105.3 exists to provide encouraging music, uplifting stories, family-friendly content, and biblically based insight 24/7. We are committed to providing content that is safe and encouraging to everyone who listens, whether that is your kids in the back seat of the car, your teenagers listening on their phones, your parents, your believing and non-believing friends, or your neighbors.

SPIRIT 105.3 offers multiple resources for you and all of our listeners through our website, Facebook, texts, mobile App, and email. These include encouragement for moms on AllMomDoes, blogs about topics that range from household repairs to gardening to cultivating a grateful heart, and audio interviews with local people who are doing good, Christian musicians, and leaders.
You join us by calling in for contests, sharing your stories of transformation, giving feedback on the music we play, and joining us as we study the Bible together, attend concerts we sponsor, and pray for our community and our world.
You’re part of ‘community supported’
There are two ways you keep SPIRIT on air as a member of our community—one is through direct giving and the other is as a business owner who advertises with us. These show that you value the content we provide, and we are so grateful for you!
Jesus said, “Give as freely as you have received!” (Matthew 10:8)
It is our hope that, as you have received from SPIRIT 105.3, you will want to give back and give forward so your community can continue to receive the message life that Jesus gives.
Our goal is to have two fundraisers a year—in Spring and Fall. However, this year you may have noticed we’ve had more than two. That’s because we needed to make up the financial shortfall from reduced advertising revenue due to the impact of COVID on businesses during the past year and a half. This has meant a greater dependence on you, our listeners.
The good news is that many advertisers are joining us again! And this is another aspect of being “community supported”. There are many businesses that want to advertise with us and we turn down because they don’t match SPIRIT values. That doesn’t mean all of our advertisers are Christians—but it does mean they all promote family values. There are others that choose to not advertise on SPIRIT because we are a Christian radio station. This is why your support is so vital!
How you can help the most
As a member of the community at SPIRIT, you may wonder how you can make the most impact. The best way you can help to keep SPIRIT on air and continue to Give Life to your community is by becoming a monthly donor.
As a monthly donor, you will receive monthly updates that tell you the impact of your gift and what is happening in the lives of listeners through SPIRIT. This helps you know how to pray more specifically for our SPIRIT family.
