Pastor: Ofahelotu (Ofa) Langi
Church: Auburn City Seventh Day Adventist
Nominator: Joyce Teulilo
When covid first took effect Pastor Ofa opened up our church parking lot and allowed HarborView Med to set up a testing site so that those in Auburn and surrounding area can be tested for covid. Auburn City SDA was one of the first testing sites along with others in Seattle. It didn’t stop there Pastor Ofa and Pastor Tommy asked the community what they needed most during this time and they said “food.” So along with the test site Pastor Ofa, members from Lend a Hand Community Ministry & Volunteers sought out to distribute food every Tuesday mornings, along with covid testing, until food runs out. It has been a year now and they are still distributing food every Tuesday mornings until finished. Auburn City SDA has been helping the Auburn Community stay safe by providing a testing location & also food for everyone that came thru. During this time Pastor Ofa also held outdoor services rain or shine he was under a tent preaching the word while we all remained in our vehicles. Giving us & the neighborhood hope that even though covid had stopped us from doing normal activities we are still able to come together and worship from our vehicles. I want to recognize Pastor Ofa & his wife Jackie Langi for their dedication not only to our church but to our community as well! I’d also like to thank all those that have helped him because nobody could have done it alone. Pastor Ofa has great leadership in serving our Lord as well as our community.
Today, Auburn City SDA has been able to serve 3,938 Families, 19,161 Individuals with 9,925 Produce Boxes, 3,197 Food Bags, 10,057 Bread… All with 42 volunteers & 3,258 Volunteer Hours and 67 Grants.
