Jen Kramer isn’t a fan of new year resolutions. Actually, a typical goal might’ve been easier than what she tackled in 2018!
It was an article she read that got the ball rolling. The writer basically asked, “Why not add something meaningful to your life instead of trying to attempt something hard?”
Every single day, (yes – all 365 days in 2018) Jen posted a note of love on Facebook. She called her idea #yearoflove and found a reason to celebrate loved ones, friends, and strangers… daily.
Jen’s boyfriend would ask her, “Who are you going to drop the love bomb on today?” She dropped it on her friend “V” who makes her coffee at Dunkin Donuts, and Norma, the custodian in her building, and Mica, a waitress who helped Jen improve her Spanish.
There were 362 other people in her life who received a love post in 2018. Jen believes it was all part of her healing. When she was 21 and away at college, her father had a heart attack and died unexpectedly. Jen’s #yearoflove was kind of a way of saying what she never got to say to her dad.
This project completely altered her life, Jen says, and it cost her nothing.
When thinking of someone to write a love post about, she’d ask herself… if this was my last day on earth, what would I want to say to this person?
It’s a great challenge. Maybe 365 feels like a lot. What if we picked one person a week to write a love post about? 52 feels more doable! Let’s keep Jen’s #yearoflove going!
