To all of the people, all of us that are in the midst of actual, physical, literal storms right now; fires, floods, hurricanes. I’m from Oregon, my entire state right now is literally on fire; I have tons of friends and family who are being evacuated, their ranches, their homes are burning down. I have family that lives in Houston, my first cousin lives in Houston and they are all completely flooded, losing everything. It can go way beyond the physical elements, people are battling their health right now, people are battling a myriad of things. I can’t speak to anybody else until I speak to myself, and my encouragement is, I have to believe that the Lord does not have wavering degrees of goodness. He’s good all the time. No matter what it looks like, or what it feels like. We are human, and my carnal mind doesn’t understand sometimes the physicality of what’s happening in this natural realm; because I feel like everything is spiritual, and there’s other things going on in the spiritual realm, that I have no idea about. Which always, ultimately comes back to faith. Do we trust God? If we truly trust God, then as the Bible says, what can man do to us? Yes, we can be pressed on every side like Paul says, we can face all these tremendous storms, all these tremendous challenges; but our faith is never going to be lost, we are not going to be crushed. And that’s what I really try to share with people, every time I go play a concert, every time I get to interact with anybody. I feel like it’s such an amazing opportunity to really get to fix our minds on what’s actually important. Which is each other, which is our family, our friends, our faith; the really actual important things in life. Dealing with storms has a way of bringing that out in all of us. It really is a perspective shifter, I think. When we actually deal with storms and a loss, it starts to begin to shift our mind and our gaze and our eyes and our perspective on things that actually matter, and I’m thankful for that in my own life.
