The wildfires in Canada have been devastating. Yesterday they evacuated 8,000 people by air on Thursday and hoped to move thousands more via a highway convoy today if it is safe. More than 80,000 people have emptied Fort McMurray, Alberta, which is oil country. There are 49 fires going and 7 of them are considered out of control.
On day seven of the Alaskan Way viaduct closure, Bertha passed the halfway point. It has dug 195 of the approximately 385 feet it needs to drill before the viaduct can reopen.
