Front-runners Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton are aiming for a sweep of all five Northeastern states holding presidential primaries today, including the big prize of Pennsylvania. Connecticut, Delaware, Maryland and Rhode Island also hold primaries today. Today’s contests will be the first since Texas Sen. Ted Cruz and Ohio Gov. John Kasich announced that their campaigns were joining forces in an effort to deny Trump the 1,237 delegates he needs to be the Republican nominee.
John Kasich appears to have stepped back somewhat from his alliance with Ted Cruz. He said at a rally in Pennsylvania that Indiana voters should vote for him. He also plans to travel to Indianapolis for a private fundraising event; although he has cancelled his public appearances there. Kasich had agreed not to spend resources in Indiana, while Cruz agreed to back away from Oregon and New Mexico.
Kelly Ripa will return to ABC’s Live with Kelly and Michael on this morning, her first day back since leaving the show last week in an alleged blowup over co-host Michael Strahan’s departure to the network’s Good Morning America. Kelly was upset that she was informed of the news of Strahan’s exit only minutes before it was announced publicly. Meanwhile, speculation continues over Michael’s replacement.
