It isn’t always clear to me, the path God has in mind. But, I want to encourage you today with a story.
This spring my daughter, Ellie, has had a tough time. She’s been sick so much and just struggling. She’ll get a cold, which leads to an ear infection, which led to us discovering she has asthma. We recently spent the evening in urgent care while she underwent a 1 hour long breathing treatment. Her poor pale face and labored breathing were a reminder to me that life is fragile.
For the past month I feel like we’ve missed a ton of work, we haven’t seen our friends, we rarely make it to church or Bible study and we are just quarantined. We have been feeling worn out! (Ever felt like this?)
And then this is what happened.
I brought my sweet Ellie to the dentist for her 1 year checkup. Turns out a tooth that she chipped last year needs to be pulled because it is infected. (But, she IS cavity free!) And, the antibiotics she’s been on for her various ear infections the past month have been a tremendous healer for this abscess on her tooth. (Thank you, Jesus!) Part of the reason we didn’t even know it was a big deal – she was in no pain. We just this month signed Ellie up for dental insurance and had we needed to bring her in to the dentist earlier we would have been swimming in some hefty bills. Wow, God knew we would end up where we did today, and he paved the way for us.
I’m in awe of God in these moments. He takes care of us in the little things.
It’s hard sometimes to see these little God moments when we are in the midst of our struggle, isn’t it? I think so. Life is hard and it’s difficult to pay attention. But, today friends, I challenge you to look at the path in front of you and watch for God’s fingerprints. I guarantee they are there and probably in ways you didn’t expect.
