House GOP pushes reluctant Paul Ryan to seek Speaker’s chair–-Since House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., shocked his congressional colleagues early yesterday by withdrawing his name from consideration to replace John Boehner, R-Ohio, as Speaker of the House. House Ways and Means Committee chair Paul Ryan, was also Mitt Romney’s running mate in 2012.
President Obama is going to Oregon to meet with the families of the victims of the shooting there. It looks like he may get a mixed reception there. Some people are eager to welcome him, others feel as though he has politicized the tragedy with his call for stricter gun laws.
Twenty-seven of the more than 50 women who have accused Bill Cosby of drugging and taking advantage of them will tell their stories in a prime-time TV special tonight. “The Cosby Accusers Speak airs at (8 p.m. Central—6 p.m. Pacific) on NBC’s Dateline. Cosby has denied all wrongdoing and has not been charged with a crime. Dozens of Cosby accusers are pursuing a civil lawsuit against him currently.
