Rescue workers scrambled yesterday to pull people from the hull of a Chinese passenger ship on the Yangtze River after it overturned and sank in a storm. The boat was carrying 458 people when it capsized on Monday night—438 remain missing. Emergency responders pulled six passengers to safety after hearing banging and cries for help from within the capsized boat. The ship is upside down in about 50 feet of water with part of its hull visible. At least nine others were saved, including the captain and the chief engineer, and the Chinese President has ordered an’all-out rescue efforts,’
Former Rhode Island governor Lincoln Chafee is expected to declare his presidential candidacy today. He’s a former senator as well as a former Republican, has criticized Hillary Clinton for her past support of the Iraq War. Highway 2 has reopened after a head on crash at the Pilchuck River near Snohomish on Tuesday night at 11:30 PM. The 37-year old driver of the Honda was not wearing a seat belt when the car crossed into oncoming traffic, colliding with a Jeep. The driver of Honda is in critical condition while the 77-year old driver of the Jeep suffered minor injuries. KOMO
