We are thankful for the men and women who have sacrificed so much and fought for our freedom. Will you join SPIRIT and recognize some of our local Military Heroes? Today we are recognizing Andrew Hankerson from Puyallup, Washington. Read what his wife had to say about Andrew below:
My husband is a navy reservist who has been in every military action since 1989 except for perhaps two. He has deployed to Afghanistan twice, and Kuwait. Because he is a reservist, he has never been honored or recognized for his service.
We live in Puyallup and Bangor Bremerton base is at least 1 hour away. He has never participated in any welcoming home venture. There has never been anyone other than myself and our son at the airport to greet him when he comes home. He has never once complained and without doubt, if asked again he would leave today. He loves this country, and will serve it with his life. The first deployment our son was 1 month old, now Alex is 7 and will be 8 at the end of the month.
My husband just returned from his last deployment approx. 4months ago. We had a fire in our home last month. He goes with me every night after work to help clean up and then we drive the 1.5 hours back to Edmonds. He is my hero, our son’s hero. And I would like him to know how much we truly appreciate all he has done for us. Even recently, we went to dinner and coming out of the restaurant were two flags on either side. The wind had blown them around the pole. He stopped, cleared the flag saluted and said this is the country I serve. It’s in his heart to care for this country.
SPIRIT 105.3 would like to thank GEICO for helping us recognize Military Heroes.
