Our dog, Beau, is a beautiful Newfoundland… He’s really one of the family, except he doesn’t get to enjoy all the privileges of the rest of the family… like laying on the bed, for instance.
Occasionally, Beau will get on the bed, even though he knows he’s not allowed. What’s really hilarious though, is when we discover him, he refuses to look at us. I guess he assumes that if he can’t see us, then we can’t see him. In other words, he thinks he’s hiding from us, even though he’s in plain sight.
Ever tried to hide from God, or somehow think that God can’t see you? The Bible is full of stories, like Jonah, of people who tried (unsuccessfully) to hide from God. No matter where we go and what we do, we’re ALWAYS in plain sight to God.
Actually, that’s great news. God loves us and cares deeply for us… He wants nothing more than to lavish His love on us, and to help us grow to be more like Him. That’s why He gave Jesus as a gift to us. There’s no reason to keep hiding!
Jonah 2:2- “In my distress, I called to the Lord, and He answered me.”
