The Art of Being Patient

by Martha Hadley

Road ConstructionI hope you’re having a terrific summer as you enjoy the incredible beauty of the Pacific Northwest! Great summertime weather also means lots of road construction and repairs. We may become impatient and complain about the long traffic delays and detours, but the work really does benefit us in the long run.

It can be the same with God. He’s always at work in our life doing repairs or building new bridges or roads – and we can get impatient with the delays or detours. But we have to trust that He’s working out His perfect plan for our life as He promises in Jeremiah 29:11-14.

So, make sure you include Him in your day and thank Him for always being at work in your life. See what a difference it can make in learning patience. Oh, and thank those road crews, too, the next time you slowly drive past them!

Happy summer!

Love,
Martha

Thanks Martha for this timely reminder! I'm trying to stay focused and patient for God's calling regarding a career change. It's so easy to get caught up on what I think I should be doing in my job search instead of listening for God's direction. I'd appreciate your prayers in keeping me on God's path . . . and for patience!
