Unsung Hero: Barbara Gilreath

Barbara Gilreath of Seatac has been recognized as a SPIRIT 105.3 “Unsung Hero.”

As a Chaplain for several South King County precincts and the Director of Grief & Community Resources for Bonney Watson Funeral Homes, Barbara gives selflessly to people and families who are struggling and walking through dark times.

Troy Suzuki, who nominated Barbara for this special award says, “I have witnessed firsthand how much she is helping families through the difficult period of their lives after losing a loved one. And, Barb donated a kidney to me so I could get the kidney transplant that saved my life.”

Her hours of dedication to families in need and her personal sacrifice to provide Troy the gift of life with a kidney transplant are just some of the ways Barbara is a shining example of the “SPIRIT of Seattle.” It’s an honor and a privilege to recognize Barbara as one of our “Unsung Heroes.”

SPIRIT 105.3’s “SPIRIT of Seattle – Unsung Hero” campaign is a program that recognizes individuals for their efforts to faithfully and selflessly serve others in our communities with joy and excellence each and every day.
