Unsung Hero: Bob Snyder

Bob Snyder of Edmonds has been recently recognized as a SPIRIT 105.3 “Unsung Hero.”

For almost 10 years, members of the community have been gathering at Edmonds Lutheran Church, for a hot meal open to the public. This free meal would never be possible without the help of Bob Snyder, Head Gleaner and Volunteer Coordinator for Annie’s Community Kitchen. Bob leads a team of volunteers that works day in and day out, 365 days a year, gathering surplus food that is no longer eligible for sale from nearby grocery stores.

It is estimated that Bob and his team of volunteers gather up to two tons of food every week, to feed hundreds of mouths on Wednesdays. The meals that come out of Annie’s Community Kitchen is sourced nearly 100% from donated food. Thanks to Bob’s gracious work and devoted service, Annie's Kitchen was recently awarded with an Honorable Mention for the Excellence in Food Resource Development Award from Food Lifeline.

His years of tireless commitment for Annie’s Community Kitchen and devoted service help feed an estimated 40,000 meals a year throughout Western Washington. Bob Snyder serves a shining example of the “SPIRIT of Seattle.” It’s an honor and a privilege to recognize Bob as one of our “Unsung Heroes.”
