Unsung Hero: Mavis Bonnar

Mavis Bonnar of Seattle recognized as a SPIRIT 105.3 “Unsung Hero.”

Thousands of at risk teenagers struggle on the streets of Seattle looking for a meal, a warm place to stay, kindness and hope for a better life. Mavis is SPIRIT 105.3’s unsung hero because of her forty years of dedication and love for these struggling teenagers. She provides hope and strength by offering free healthcare, support for chemical dependency and mental health challenges. This is all made possible through the Country Doctor Free Team clinic of Seattle.

Her colleague Mac Morrison nominated Mavis for this special award. “I believe that God works through her daily, and has given her the strength, courage and desire to help those in need -- often from behind the scenes. For 40 years she has been an unsung hero. And many people who are now living healthy and productive lives owe their life and focus to her.”

Her years of tireless devotion and love for the thousands of homeless kids, who otherwise would have been ignored, are a shining example of the “SPIRIT of Seattle.” It’s an honor and a privilege to recognize Mavis as one of our “Unsung Heroes.”

SPIRIT 105.3’s “SPIRIT of Seattle – Unsung Hero” campaign is a program that recognizes individuals for their efforts to faithfully and selflessly serve others in our communities with joy and excellence each and every day.
