The Best Present EVER for Someone You Love

I recently had a great conversation with a new friend that I would like to share with you. For the sake of clarity and privacy, I will call this woman June.

June and her husband “Bill” recently moved here. Bill’s birthday was coming up and she wanted to do something special for him since he’d been a little homesick for friends and family. Suddenly, she had the perfect idea.

On the day of Bill’s birthday, June was taking Bill for a drive when they saw someone hitchhiking in the distance. She turned to look at her husband and asked, “Why don’t we give that guy a ride?” Immediately against the idea, Bill said, “What? Why would you want to do that? That is so dangerous.” She began slowing down and he started getting really nervous. “What are you doing? Don’t pull over!” And then, after a split second, he said, “Wait. Is that John?”

June had asked Bill’s best friend to come stay with them for the birthday weekend and that’s how she gave Bill his present. She had made sure that John would be hitchhiking on the same road they would be taking to get home. Nothing like wrapping up a birthday present in the form of a hitchhiker!

I totally want to steal this idea! I could see doing this with my husband’s best friend, mom, dad, sister. . .

That IS an awesome gift and story! I got such great visuals from that, and the possibilities for others to do that...plus it is also very sweet, and fun for all involved.

    thanks Amy
