I don’t know many people whose lives have not been touched, in some way, by cancer. For me, so far, it has been through both of my parents. We lost dad in 1993 after a 2-year battle. My mother, on the other hand, outlived unique diagnoses for breast and lung cancers by over 8 years. She passed away this year due to other causes.

I’m grateful for the care that both my parents received during their separate battles with this disease. I really believe the doctors and staff made every effort to see them get well. Having a team of people on our side, who we could trust, and who cared about us, was invaluable. They helped see me, and the rest of my family, through those difficult times with faith and hope.

  • Now this I know: The Lord gives victory to his anointed. He answers him from his heavenly sanctuary with the victorious power of his right hand.
  • My son is always teaching me things about being a good friend. Every month he needs to bring a snack for his class. He loves it and feels so special when it is his choice. He gets to choose a friend to help him pass it out. The first time it was his turn he said to me, "Mommy, I'm going to choose Nicholas because he's never been chosen. I want him to be chosen." What a sweetheart. His has a big heart of compassion and eyes that seek out those he can help. I hope he always keeps this heart.
