This writing guide will help you be effective in your free listing on our Community Events page. Please carefully read our guidelines below. Once you are ready, go to our Events Submission page.
The purpose of the Community Events page is to be a resource for listeners regarding activities that they can choose to participate in, especially those hosted by non profit organizations.

Information should be submitted by the event organizer or by a designated person on behalf of the sponsoring organization or venue.

Make sure all facts are correct and verified before submitting your event. Updating previously submitted information for an event may not always be possible in a timely manner.

Do not type in ALL CAPS – use conventional sentence structure.

Check spelling – you might consider composing the event description in a word processor to help confirm correct spelling

Posting multiple day events may be limited to the first three consecutive days of the event.

Event page posting is at the sole discretion of the radio station.

We suggest the sponsoring organization host their own web page describing all the details, including directions.
Submission form tips
Event Title
A short title name of the event (other information date, time, place, etc will be displayed elsewhere in the listing)
Description

Write a short summary of the event. Short sentences work best.

Avoid overuse of adjectives and excessive punctuation.

Avoid abbreviations

Do not include information that will be entered in other boxes below the description.

If multiple date ranges, place that at the beginning of the descriptions (example: April 1-3, April 7-9)

Limit of 750 characters. Shorter details are often more effective
Event date
This is the date the actual event starts. This does not reflect when your listing will be posted online (which is at our discretion).
End date
Place the final day of the event. If a one day event, do not fill in.
Time
Select the closest start time to the event.
For the length or ending time of the event, you may wish to include that information within your description.
Place
The name of the building or area the event takes place (not city)
Address
Make certain to include correct street address (enter city & state below)
City
Enter city name; if in a province, add province abbreviation (example:
Cost

If no cost enter the word “Free”

If donations or offering, enter "Donations accepted"

If there is a cost, use this style example:
$7/adults, $5/studentrs & seniors, free/10 & under -
If there is a more complicated fee structure, have that information on your website and enter
"See website for details"
Phone
Could refer to a recorded message with details or a live person to answer. If you can not provide this service, leave blank
Email
Email address where questions about the event can be sent by event page visitors
Website
We suggest your organization have a page to verify the event you are submitting. Please include the http:// when naming the website page
Sponsor
Usually the organization and/or venue hosting the event; avoid abbreviations
Your name, email, and phone
To contact you directly to clarify & verify information you have submitted
Please include first and last name
You can list more than one phone number to reach you
