Making Strides Against Breast Cancer 5K

The American Cancer Society Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk is the largest network of breast cancer awareness events in the nation, uniting more than 300 communities to finish the fight.

Making Strides walkers turn awareness into action by helping raise more than $60 million for the American Cancer Society each year to save more lives from breast cancer. Los Pinguos

It’s been nearly forty years since Tim Hauser, a former Madison Avenue marketing executive, paid his bills by driving a New York City cab while aspiring to form a harmony vocal quartet sui generis that could authentically embrace varied musical styles, and still create something wholly unique in the field of American popular song.

Hauser had been in doo-wop groups, folk groups, and even in a short-lived quintet named The Manhattan Transfer, but as the sounds of jazz, R&B, pop, rock ‘n’ roll, salsa and swing poured out of brownstones, Hauser now dreamt of four-part harmonies without limits.

In the Fall of 1972, Hauser’s taxi fare was an aspiring young singer named Laurel Massé, who was familiar with the sole album by Hauser’s earlier Manhattan Transfer combo, and was looking to form a group. A few weeks later, another of Hauser’s fares invited him to a party where he met Brooklyn native Janis Siegel; although already in a group, Siegel agreed to help out on some demos and before long she was the third member of The Manhattan Transfer. As Hauser, Massé and Siegel began rehearsing, Massé’s then-boyfriend, who was drumming in a Broadway pit band, introduced Hauser and Siegel to Alan Paul, who was co-starring in the original production of Grease, and the rest, as they say, is history.

Ethel & Kaki King

Hailed by Rolling Stone as "a genre unto herself," Kaki King is a true iconoclast, a visionary musician/artist whose singular work rightly stands out amongst the easily formatted. Over her decade-long career thus far, the Brooklyn-based guitarist/composer has recorded five extraordinarily diverse and distinctive LPs, performed with such icons as Foo Fighters, Timbaland, and The Mountain Goats, contributed to a variety of film and TV soundtracks (spanning Golden Globe-nominated work on Sean Penn's Into The Wild to scoring -- and appearing in as guitar-playing hand double -- the acclaimed 2007 drama, August Rush), and played to ever-growing audiences on innumerable world tours.

Described as "indefatigable and eclectic" (The New York Times) and "vital and brilliant" (The New Yorker), the string quartet ETHEL continues to be a pacesetter of post-classical music. Formed in 1998, the New York City-based ETHEL comprises Ralph Farris (viola), Dorothy Lawson (cello), Kip Jones (violin) and Tema Watstein (violin). Balancing their iconoclastic, explosive style with tender reverence for works of great beauty, ETHEL presents a program which delves energetically into the fallibility of human memory and the mutability of the past.

Kitsap County Mens Conference

We would like to invite all men (16 and up) to the Kitsap County Men's Conference featuring David Dusek from ROUGHCUT Mens Ministry. This event is an all day event to bring men together from all walks of life, fathers & father in law, brother & brother in laws, military & veterans.

The purpose of THE ROUGH CUT MEN MOVIE EXPERIENCE is really simple…to get men to begin engaging with one another in an authentic and transparent way.  We just get guys talking to each other!

Rough Cut Men has been presented at the US military service academies, US Army installations worldwide, NASCAR Sprint Cup teams, IndyCar race events, Teen Challenge Men’s Centers and just about any Christian denomination you can name.

Through the use of major motion picture clips from “Saving Private Ryan”, “The Gridiron Gang”, “Armageddon” and even “Shrek” and “Over the Hedge” to name a few, men come away realizing that they are not the only ones going through challenges.  Using a strategic balance of Hollywood action movies, relevant current events, Biblical Truth and personal testimony, men become engaged with each other.

Please come join us... reserve your spot TODAY!!

Event Admission Fee (if any): 35.00 lunch included
