Evening of Hope

WHERE
Westminster Chapel, 13646 NE 24th St, Bellevue
WHEN
Tuesday, October 9, 2012
TIME
7pm-9pm

Evenings of Hope. We are offering in participation with Mental Illness Awareness Week. Each evening will cover a topic that speaks to frequent questions and concerns around mental illness. For example, we often hear about Post Traumatic Stress Disorder with respect to women and men who experienced sexual abuse (such as the victims of Jerry Sandusky) or with war veterans from Vietnam, Iraq, and Afghanistan. Another common topic for concern is mental illness and violence, which came up again in the recent shootings in Aurora, CO and Tucson, AZ. Should people feel afraid of a person with a mental illness hurting them? How likely is a mentally ill person to be violent toward others? In truth, a person with a mental illness is far more likely to be hurt by others, or to hurt themselves, than they are to hurt others. We welcome your presence and your friends at any of our meetings. Please join us as we talk about these important issues and come together as a community of compassion and hope.
