My Election Endorsement Is For...

Posted By: Larry Lomax http://www.larrylomax.com · 9/5/2012 8:45:00 AM

While we don't use our station airwaves to personally advocate for candidates and political parties, we are keenly aware of the convention fervor with the upcoming election in November.

However, I would like to endorse this one thought: Take the responsibilty to know who and what you are voting for.

There's a lot of highly charged claims flying around, but how do you know what's true? Some of us may end up accepting or repeating a claim someone else has shared without looking into it deeper... even from friends, teachers, or the media. Like Reagan once smartly advised, "Trust... but verify."

If we value God's Word and our Christian worldview, it is reasonable to examine political positions through that perspective. To look at opposing opinions. To ask God's wisdom to discern fact from fiction. For you and I, it means we really need to know what we believe and why.

I hope you choose to exercise your right to vote... but revere that freedom seriously enough to look beyond the rhetoric and be a truth seeker. The future of our republic is hinging on each of us to do "the next right thing."
