SPIRIT 105.3 DJ - Weekends
  • My wife and I were busy raking up the yard last weekend, when a delivery truck pulled up next to us. The driver rolled down his window and greeted us with a question rather than a box. “Hey, what kind of tree is that?” Oh, “a tulip tree,” my wife answers. “I’ve been driving by it a few days now and it’s really pretty,” he said.  We chatted a bit longer and then off he went.

  • I was encouraged by something my son said the other day and I want to share it with you, too.  My son Hayden got braces recently. He was so excited.  I don’t recall ever seeing someone excited to get braces.  He was excited even knowing that there would be discomfort that came along with them.  Curious as to why he was so excited, Hayden said, “Because I know how good my smile is going to look when the braces come off”.

  • Gift giving and shopping lists have been top of mind at our house since Black Friday and maybe at your house, too. In fact, I have noticed my boys wish list’s on the refrigerator have been expanding ever since. Come to find out the gifts my boys want are similar to their friends lists. I get that…

  • Do you recall a time recently when you felt out of control, defeated and afraid? I came upon a story the other day that was such a great reminder to me of where I need to be in those challenging times and I wanted to share it with you, too.

  • For every step I took into the canyon, I knew it would be two steps up out of the canyon, but it didn’t matter. We reached the twenty foot tall kiln and it was so cool! After a snack, we headed back out the 2.7 mile trail. The boys took off, of course, while I set out on what was to be a good work out. God help me get back to the car, I prayed. A few minutes into the ascent

  • Listening to SPIRIT 105.3…the encouragement and hope that is heard in the music, can be just what your heart ordered.  It amazes me to hear from listeners who want to know the title of a song, or the artist who sang it, because it’s just what they needed to hear at that time.

  • My boys and I were watching the game. It didn’t take long for our heads to be hanging low. Never before had we seen our beloved Seahawks play so poorly. Quarter by quarter, interception by interception, our doubt was growing. My son Hayden even said, “It’s going take a miracle.” I had gotten to the point where I

  • My oldest son, Bradley, broke his wrist last week playing soccer. For the past several days we’ve been helping him bathe, get dressed, and even style his hair – though we had to give that one up since apparently we don’t “do it right”. Since it’s his right wrist and he is right-handed, we’ve also

  • Did you have the chance to watch Monday night’s episode of “Running Wild with Bear Grylls”.  Bear is a survivalist/adventurer and on the show he takes a celebrity on a challenging two day quest through the wild outdoors.

Monday night’s show featured NFL superstar Deion Sanders, being tested physically and mentally in the Utah desert. During a campfire chat, Bear got personal with Deion, asking how he felt after winning the Super Bowl. His answer was surprising.

  • We are grateful, I hope, amidst our 3-day weekend outings, our BBQ gatherings and our fun-filled plans on Memorial Day weekend. We remember, I hope, that this day is so much more than these things, that men and woman have given their lives for the freedoms we get to enjoy. We support, I hope, the people who are still fighting, still serving, still helping maintain this freedom. And, perhaps, through our gratefulness, our rememberence and our support our kids will learn what an important day this really is.
