Chores for Hire DIY

This project took me about five minutes to whip together and then I had to wait for a coat of spray paint to dry. It's quick and inexpensive and that's the way I like them. My husband and I have debated on putting actual cash in these clips vs. a ticket for $ or something but I'm leaning toward the instant gratification thing as a motivator. Read more...

Cinder Block Garden

I'm not very good at planting gardens or keeping plants alive. However, my husband and I thought it would be fun to try plant a garden so our son could watch things grow. Last year was the first year we did it. Our peas and beans did great. Our carrots...not so much! Read more...

Garden Décor Round-Up

I’ll be honest with you. I say that my family is big into gardening and outdoor living…but really, my husband is the one who does it all. I have grand intentions, but I also have a teeny problem with follow-through. In the spirit of those grand intentions, however, I’ve scoured the internet for some of my fave garden décor ideas – ones that are so cute and simple that even I could pull them off. Read more...

A Garden For Each Season of Life

As I think back on all the gardens I’ve grown, I realize that each one mirrored what was happening in my life at the time.  As I grew and changed, so did my gardens. Read more...

TOMATOGEDDON

My point. Our yard and garden is a work in progress and we only spend so much time on it among doing life with these busy kiddos. It's more about the feeling in our yard (cozy and welcoming) than about perfectly sculpted edges and such. It's a come as you are space and we like that. Read more...

A Lego to Stand On

Dinner preparation at the Slaney house looks like this: my wife feverishly cooks after a long day at work while I do my best to keep the kids from interrupting that process. The fewer the distractions, the sooner we’re able to come together and enjoy her delicious cooking.  We feel that coming together for a family dinner is really important.  That’s what brought about the need to creatively overcome an issue which had been disturbing me for quite some time:  our son’s Legos consuming half of our eating space. Making a Jewelry Display on a Shoestring Budget

Anyway, my personal goal this year has been to put on at least one piece of jewelry every day, let myself feel feminine, and know that as I age and change, I can still put my best foot forward. You get this, I know you do. Which brings me to simple jewelry organization. My shoestring budget and I went shopping, and we decided to bust something out together so I could put my jewelry items out where I'd see and then eventually remember to actually wear them and I would love to share this fairly simple DIY idea with you today!
