He Knows the Way I Take

How well do you know your children? As Moms I think it’s our job to know the heart of our child, just as God knows us. We should, to the best of our ability, know what makes them tick. Are you familiar with the story in the Bible about Job? If not here is a quick overview. (I mean really quick! This is very paraphrased!) Read more...

Personal Size Bean Pizzas

With sports in full swing and life flying by at break neck speed at my house, I can’t stress enough how important it is to eat well and find at least 10 ~ 15 min. a night to look each other in the face at the dinner table and catch up on “the happenings” in each other’s lives. Read more...

Sometimes Brokenness is Good

As a Mom sometimes it is just so hard to admit that you are broken. Heart broken, spirit broken (okay, or maybe an emotional basket case!). This Mom job we have is tough. We have to make decisions on behalf of our children and many times they do not like it...or they HATE it. We’ve been going through such a time as this lately with our 16 year old. I always have high hopes that by this stage of “almost” adulthood that I don’t have to make too many more decisions for my kids, but then like a thunderstorm that comes out of nowhere and crashes down in the middle of your beautiful picnic an unfortunate decision is made. The Secret Life Of A Power Freak: Part 2

Last week I made an important confession to you: I am a power freak. And, I think you should be too. I’m going to be perfectly honest with you...the reason I NEED the Power of the Holy Spirit is because I am a wimp! I am happy to admit this! I spent so many years trying to pick myself up by the boot straps and keep a stiff upper lip; it took me many years to even learn what being weak and resting on the Lord and His Holy Spirit Power even really meant. You see I really thought that I had to work hard to put that smile on my face when I felt like screaming and crying. Read more...

Are You Waiting For a Miracle This Christmas?

This year our pocket books are super tight, we are having a family struggle and today is the anniversary of my little sister’s death 13 years ago. Christmas time is such a joyous time and yet, for me, a real time of humble memories of a God that sees us in our desperation. He meets us right where we are and He longs to bless us and sing over us. Every Christmas I think back to a time when I was so desperate for God, I’m actually always desperate, but this one year… Read more...

Have A Perfect Christmas When Life Isn't Perfect

We all do it, we dream of the perfect Christmas. We dream of families gathering around the table for a delicious meal with smiles on their faces and love in their hearts. We dream of loads of gifts under the tree and having each member of the family present to open their ideal gift. We think about how grateful all of our children everyone will be and how filled with joy. Read more...

For the Hurting

Do you share the story of Christ at Christmas time? Do you try to create opportunities for that conversation to happen? I grow a little more serious during the Holiday Season. I am ever aware that as the lights flicker and dance in the cool of the night and families frolic to the gift stores and spend feverishly trying to create that “perfect” Christmas, there are others that stand by and watch with broken hearts, broken lives and broken pocket books. There are those that are empty and lonely. Those that are depressed, confused and sad. There are those in the hospitals and those by their bedsides. There are the ones on the street corner holding signs as we drive by “help me feed my family”. Blended families send their children off to have Christmas somewhere else…sometimes with strangers. Remember a Child This Christmas Season with Angel Tree

You can help change the life of a prisoner’s child FOREVER. Every child has a story. For 2.7 million American children, that story is filled with the abandonment, loneliness and shame that come from having a mom or dad in prison. For many, it may also include following their parents down the same destructive road to incarceration. Angel Tree, a program of Prison Fellowship, reaches out to the children of inmates and their families with the love of Christ. This unique program gives your church an opportunity to share Christ’s love by helping to meet the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of the families of prisoners. Read more...
