The New Lifesaver in Town: Time 4 Kidz Drop-In Playcare

Grandparents aren’t available.  Babysitters cancel.  Caregivers get sick.

But mama has a really important meeting, a doctor’s appointment, a hot date with daddy, or wants to run errands without kids in tow.  Or maybe she just needs a break and a mani-pedi.

Ladies, there’s a new lifesaver in town: Time 4 Kidz Drop-in Playcare

Time 4 Kidz Drop-in Playcare opened in Lynnwood 2 ½ months ago as a place for parents to get up to 4 hours of safe, friendly, and fun care for their children on a drop-in basis – no advance arrangements needed!  They are open seven days a week, well into the evening, and care for children ages 2-10 years old.

What???  What a fantastic concept!

I was given the opportunity to visit the new facility, but since mom’s opinions aren’t the only ones that are important when considering childcare options, I brought my own little 5-year-old blogger-in-training to get a kid’s perspective.

We walked in the front door and my first thought was “FUN!”  The place was much larger than I expected from the outside and it was bright and colorful, loaded with toys.  Conlan had the same thought – he couldn’t get into that play area fast enough.

We were greeted immediately by Helen, the owner.  To her, this is a dream many years in the making.  She herself is a mom to five children and ran her own traditional childcare business for the past 10 years.  When her family moved here from Montana, she found that drop-in childcare wasn’t available like it was back home.

What were parents supposed to do?  Not everyone needs the daily care of traditional childcare centers.  Surely there was a need for stress-free, reliable childcare that was easily accessible at a moment’s notice.  Several years, a lot of red tape, and a lot of work later her dream was realized.

At Time 4 Kidz, there are two distinct play areas.  The first is for children ages 2-5 and is full of colorful toys, blocks, play kitchens, a reading area, and {of course} a train table.  There are lots of toys to build the imagination and the kids will never get bored.

There is another area for older children that includes basketball, video games, legos, and an air hockey table.  There’s something for everyone!

There are also craft tables and an eating area.  Parents can either bring meals and snacks for their children or have them provided by Time 4 Kidz.

Oh, and do your kids have winter birthdays like both of mine?  You know, during those cold, gray, wet months here in the Pacific Northwest?  Well, Time 4 Kidz does birthday parties too!  What a fun, spacious, {warm & dry} place to host your little one’s next celebration!

As a mom, I was completely impressed by Time 4 Kidz.  Helen is so friendly and joyful, it would be hard for any mom {or child} to not feel completely comfortable with her.  The place is colorful and fun – but beyond that it is clean and well-kept.  There are so many unique play options I am certain my own son would be well-entertained and happy if I dropped him off.  He probably wouldn’t even miss me.  J

But you don’t have to take my word for it – he gave his own review.

“Mommy, that was so much fun!  Can we go again?”

Time 4 Kidz is located in the H Mart Plaza across from Alderwood Mall and open seven days a week; Monday – Thursday 10-9, Friday-Saturday 10-10 and Sunday 11-8.  Children ages 2-10 years old are welcome and the younger ones don’t even need to be potty trained.  Playcare is charged by the hour for a maximum for 4 hours each day.  There is no need to arrange care in advance, but first-time visitors should plan for about 10 minutes worth of paperwork (available for download on their website if you want to save some time).

Conlan and I got to have a great time checking out the facility – but now you can, too!  They are having their Grand Opening Celebration on June 21st.  They’ll be open from 11-7 for parents and children to check out the play areas.  On that day there will also be fun kids’ activities, face painting, a magician, a train, and even Elsa from Frozen!  Grab your kids (even the babies!) and enjoy some fun family time while checking out this fabulous new resource in Lynnwood!

Mamas, your lifesaver has arrived – and it’s called Time 4 Kidz!
