Cleansing bath at Qumran

Day 6 - November 12th

In the morning we will go to the fascinating ruins of Megiddo called “Armageddon” in the book of Revelation. High up on the ruins of this intriguing site, there will be teaching about the role of Armageddon in the end-times. We will have the opportunity to drive to Nazareth to visit the well of Mary and hear about Nazareth – the city of the Messiah. Next, we will visit the Church of the Annunciation, and stop at Qumran. This archaeological site is located in the West Bank about 1 mile northwestern of the Dead Sea. It is best known as the location where the Dead Sea Scrolls were discovered in 1947 deep inside a cave. The scrolls are the oldest scriptures of the Bible ever found. The Dead Sea is also known to be the lowest point on earth at 1300 feet below sea level. The quantity of water that evaporates from it is greater than that which flows into it. That being said, this body of water has the highest concentration of salt in the world which provides you the opportunity to float like a cork! Enjoy the evening on the Dead Sea and perhaps enjoy a mud bath while you are at it.

For every step I took into the canyon, I knew it would be two steps up out of the canyon, but it didn’t matter. We reached the twenty foot tall kiln and it was so cool! After a snack, we headed back out the 2.7 mile trail. The boys took off, of course, while I set out on what was to be a good work out. God help me get back to the car, I prayed. A few minutes into the ascent Read More
