Tangled Lights

A reminder of what the Christmas season is about

Are you preparing to hang Christmas lights at your home?

If you’re like me, you probably wait and hang your lights the day after Thanksgiving. That’s when you’ll find me out on the roof.

But first, this weekend, I have to pull the lights out of the boxes in the garage, get them untangled and replace any burnt out bulbs. I’ve learned over the years that a little preparation beforehand saves me a ton of frustration later (actually my wife taught me that). So then when I do plug the lights in, my house will shine brightly.

I’ve also learned that those “tangled lights” are a reminder to me of what the Christmas season is about;   celebrating the birth of our Savior Jesus Christ and the gift of His love. Love that can help untangle those knots in our hearts that dim our lights and keep us from loving others fully.

This Christmas season, I hope your “lights” untangle easily and God’s love shines brightly on you!

Blessings-

Paul Fredricks

We don't have to climb up on the roof this year. We left the hangers up last year. ,-)

I think Steve and Amy are so so so funny in the morning! I LOVED the story where the family used twice as much bourbon glaze on the HAM on Thanksgiving, when suddenly a burst blew the oven door open and spread blue flames across the kitchen! Hahahah that is the funniest story but Steve, Amy, and they all have the funniest reactions to these stories it is hilarious! I love listening during work!

  • You Never Know

This 20-something guy then proceeded to open up a bit about how he'd grown up in a faith-filled home, but once college came around, he'd opted more for late Saturday nights with friends than early Sunday mornings at church."I guess I just kinda fell away," he continued. He looked at the ground as he talked, probably waiting for me to offer a cliche or some advice, but instead I said: Read More
