Helping Boys Thrive Summit Seattle 2014

The Helping Boys Thrive Summit is a one-day event that brings together professionals, parents, educators, and community stakeholders who are raising and educating boys. The summit is a positive, life-affirming, science-based, and practically focused professional development and networking event. This is the first of its kind in our community, one that brings together a national pioneer in the field of boys’ development with local pioneers in helping boys, young men, and families.  This event is ideal and targeted to the following groups:

parents :: teachers :: counselors :: therapists :: medical professional :: grandparents :: law enforcement :: corrections workers :: youth service providers :: early childhood providers :: mentors :: faith professionals

"Our boys need us now in ways they have not before. They are being raised in a very complex world and many of their support systems and developmental frameworks have crumbled. As we bring our passionate attention to boys today, and come together to nurture, support, and educate them well, we give a gift not only to them, but to our families, communities, and culture.  I hope you will agree that it is time for a coordinated grass roots effort to help our sons.  Let’s do this together with summits and outreach that positively alter the cultural landscape for our sons."

- Michael Gurian, New York Times Bestselling Author of The Wonder of Boys and featured speaker at Helping Boys Thrive Summit Seattle 2014

Celebrating Boys

While the need for the Summit grows, the founders believe, from disturbing trends in the social development of boys today, the Summit itself can also be a celebration of the vitality and uniqueness of boys and young men. This is a day to focus on boys’ development and enjoy boy energy and the resilience and vision of our boys and young men.

  • The Most Fragile Gift

It feels as if more and more tragedy is invading our lives and the news. Love this reminder from Ann Voskamp: After Paris, the calendar says it, that Advent cusps, that now the days will get shorter and the night will get longer and longer and longer, till it seems like the night’s invading the day —- and then Grace with skin will invade everything. Then the Greatest Gift will be born and we will remember another world and Home and our true names and how there is nothing ever to fear. Read More
