  • For the sake of Christ, then, I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and calamities. For when I am weak, then I am strong.

  • Let's all take a moment to reflect and remember those in our lives who have served. Who are you remembering this Memorial Day?

  • We are grateful, I hope, amidst our 3-day weekend outings, our BBQ gatherings and our fun-filled plans on Memorial Day weekend. We remember, I hope, that this day is so much more than these things, that men and woman have given their lives for the freedoms we get to enjoy. We support, I hope, the people who are still fighting, still serving, still helping maintain this freedom. And, perhaps, through our gratefulness, our rememberence and our support our kids will learn what an important day this really is.

  • We were playing outside with our kids last weekend and my son was blowing a bubble. It was a beautiful day, the sun was shining, a few clouds in the sky and just a nice, subtle breeze. The kids were in shorts, running around laughing and when they stopped to blow bubbles, my son said, “Let’s blow some bubbles up to heaven for Jesus. I know he will love this. He wants to pop some. He’ll laugh.”

  • My husband and I just got back from our big 25th anniversary trip to Dublin, London & Paris. We are not world travelers. In fact, 95% of any vacations we’ve taken in the last 25 years have all involved Disney...

  • Every year on this day, emotions run a little heavy for me. My family, along with others, suffered the tragic loss of someone close to them. For us, it was my aunt, Karen Varner, at the age of 21. She was a daughter, a big sister to three siblings, and a loving fiancé. Her fiancé, Terry Crall (21), also perished in the blast.

  • Oh no. This week I had a moment of conviction. Shoot. I hate when this happens. I got a subtle reminder that there is a pride that lives in all of us. It sometimes waits there hiding and then it jumps out when it knows it can catch us in its trap. There were people chosen for something special this week that I was not chosen for. It is kind of a cool thing and I had worked hard on my submission for this project. One gal made a comment about how she was shocked she was chosen since she had just spent two seconds and submitted at the last minute.

Seattle Christian School has partnered with AllMomDoes to sponsor this post and bring you this information. Yup, you read that right. As many as NINETY PERCENT of kids who are active in their church youth groups leave the faith after high school. While a slew of studies have the exact numbers all over the map, they all agree that the percentage falls somewhere between 70-90%. Parents, that is ASTOUNDING. You teach them. You shepherd them. You disciple them. You pray for them. And then they leave your home, and there are no guarantees about what happens next. As millions of parents have...

I typically wash my hair twice a week. I often get questions about this considering I work out 4-5 times a week. “How do you work out and still only wash your hair twice a week?” Now, before you judge me or get grossed out, I have two words for you. Dry. Shampoo.      I too used to be skeptical. I would wash my hair once, sometimes twice a day! When I skipped a day, I felt like my hair was limp and oily. I knew about dry shampoo but made the conclusion it wasn’t for me. I liked my hair clean. I can’t quite recall when this changed but it probably has...

This weekend is our church's annual men's retreat. My husband is away at a bible camp, thoroughly enjoying some guy time, doing all kinds of things (and I'm not entirely sure what). I'm home here, enjoying a visit with my mom, and absolutely thrilled for this weekend that he's getting to have. Honestly completely thrilled! I know sometimes the logistics of the idea of having your husband go away for a weekend can be daunting, particularly if you have young kiddos. The idea of him being gone for two or three days when he's likely already gone for a work week seems overwhelming. But I have...
