AIM to be Fit

Name: Amy
Age: 32
Current Occupation: Customer Service

Favorite Foods:
Pasta and rice - I know CARBS! I also love cheese and fruits.

Favorite Activities:
Walking, playing Wii, hiking

Why do you want to be considered?
I had Twins at the end of 2009, and believe me I was HUGE! I have had some issues losing the weight and feel like it is time to get serious and get back to the pre-baby weight. It is hard when you are 5'3 to find pants that not only fit your flabby waist but that are short enough too. I also want to develop healthier habits.

What are you going to do to achieve your results?
I will start exercising and will stop eating like I am pregnant. I will get back to the 3 healthy meals a day and find good snacks. I will enlist friends to keep me accountable and see if they would like to exercise with me.

What are your health and fitness challenges?
Staying motivated and not being tempted by the snacky foods. Also, time is tough when you work full time and are a mother of twins.

What are your goals by participating in this 4 weeks of challenge?
To develop healthy eating habits and to make exercise part of my daily routine - which also helps with the stress. I would like to lose the baby weight and I would also like to learn to cook better meals for me and my family.

What are your long term goals?
Same as above: To develop healthy eating habits and to make exercise part of my daily routine - which also helps with the stress. I would like to lose the baby weight and I would also like to learn to cook better meals for me and my family.

Hi Amy - Congrats from me also and I still hope that we are able to meet one day. This has been a great challenge and I have learned alot about myself. Keep on working with all of the new habits that you created and I know you will have great success in better health. Have a wonderful weekend!
COMMENT FLAG Connie - 02.18.2011

COMMENT FLAG Amy - 02.17.2011
I woke up to snow today. That was shocking, but so nice! I love how peaceful it was. Even though it made me want to stay at home all nice and cozy, I went on to Boot Camp with my buddy Christina. It was a good workout today. Mark is a very good trainer and I never feel like I'm doing a bad job when he is making sure I'm doing the workout correctly. Afterwards, Christina and I came to work and here, we are doing the Biggest Loser contest. I can't believe that I have lost 7 pounds since this challenge has started!! I'm so excited. This is proof that the changes I have been making are working. I don't even feel like the changes have been so drastic that following through would be difficult. Thank you to Spirit, voters, and to Mark at Aim Fitness for helping me along in this journey!
COMMENT FLAG Christina - 02.12.2011
Amy I just want to let you know you have done an amazing job. I see a big difference in your eating habbits and energy. You have inspired me to be healthy and even chnage my coffee drink. Im so excited we are doing a 5k together. We can do this!!! Good job
COMMENT FLAG Amy - 02.11.2011
So it appears the challenge is coming to a close. All I can say is that for me, it is definately not an end. It is only the beginning of the 'new' me. The new Amy has more energy, makes more conscious decisions about what she is going to eat, and is definately more motivated to get out and be active. I will keep going with the boot camp and I can't wait to see all the baby fat go buh-bye for good! I can already see some of the changes that these last few weeks have brought - and I know if I continue to make the right choices, then I will get to my goal. Thanks to all of my friends who have been encouraging during this time and also for those that have been out there with me being active!!! Also to the 3 beautiful women who have done this challenge - great job! Don't stop what you have started - the rewards are well worth the sweat!
COMMENT FLAG Connie - 02.10.2011
Way to go Amy! Which walk/run are you doing? I am looking at one in March too - perhaps we could finally meet? Keep up the good work and I prayyou recover from your cold quickly.
FLAG Amy - 02.11.2011
Hey Connie, thanks! I'm doing the Can do 5K in Bothell on March 26th! My goal is to try and run half of it (if not the whole thing). I will be pretty happy if I can do that! That would be awesome if you decided to do a 5K!. My goal is one 5K a month through September, pretty lofty goal, but I think I can do it. :)
COMMENT FLAG Amy - 02.08.2011
This week I have been fighting a head/chest cold - but I didn't let that stop me from going to camp! I brought a friend with me on Saturday and she LOVED it! She agreed to sign up for the trial period. Yay Christina! It will be nice to have a buddy that is doing the same thing so we can keep each other accountable. I really enjoy the workouts and the feeling I get afterwards, even though I'm rushing off to work. I feel so energized during the day and I feel like I can tackle everything. This week I'm going to start jogging so I can do the 5K walk/run in March. Even if I can train enough to run 1/2 of the 5K I will be one happy camper. I am also going to make an appointment at Evergreen College, can't decide what I want to do, but I do know I want to be pampered! :)
FLAG Julie - 02.09.2011
Amy, You are doing such an awesome job, hang in there! Continue to encourage yourself in the Lord just like David did in 1 Samuel 30:6. God bless you my friend and YOU can do all things through Christ who strengthens you! Julie
COMMENT FLAG Connie - 02.04.2011
Hi Amy, Just keep moving forward my friend! I too get too busy and stressed for my own good. We can't always avoid that. Just remember that if we are healthy we can handle it better and love those around us more. I applaud your clear understanding of the need to stay close to God. He gives us the most important health we need. Have a blessed weekend, Connie
COMMENT FLAG April - 02.01.2011
Sorry we didn't get a chance to meet last week. Keep up the good work!
COMMENT FLAG Amy - 02.01.2011
This past week was tough, not so much with the challlenge, but mentally. I was grumpy and stressed and just tired of the busyness in my life right now. I went to camp this morning, even after waking up not feeling stellar, and it was so good to work out. I definately feel a little refreshed, but still a little 'bleh'. On my way to work I was listening to Spirit and a song came on, that I hear often, but this time one of the lines stuck out to me quite loudly - "I'm forgiven..and I don't have to carry the weight of who I am." Even though I have been making healthy choices and excercising, I have been missing out on the mental and spiritual aspect of this journey. I felt weighted down by all the stress and all the activities and all the 'chores' I have. Not really taking the time for myself and to remember who I am in this world and what God has created me to be. I definately need to slow down and take a step back and not rush and remember that I'm not perfect and I'm not going to do everything right all the time. That's enough of my ramble for now. :) More to come on this challenge. God Bless!
COMMENT FLAG Jessica - 01.31.2011
Hi Amy I just want to congradulat you on takeing charge of your health. I actually started working out last January and I'm still going strong I have lost 88 pound's and counting. I am a mom of three 14,11 and 8. So last year I couldn't button my jean's and I had, had enough. So if I can loose weight you can. Keep up the great work and something I do when I workout that might help is I pray and quote God's word Nehamiah 8:10, Phill 4:13, and Luke 1:37 and I also tell myself that if I dont' move I won't lose. I hope this give you encouragement. God Bless you!
FLAG Amy - 02.01.2011
Thank you Jessica! I wrote down the verses. :) It is tough to get into the healthy habits, but I'm finding as time goes by it does get easier. Congrats on your weight loss! I love hearing about everyone's encouraging stories. It is very motivating. God Bless and keep up the good work!
COMMENT FLAG Amy - 01.28.2011
I signed up for my first 5K run/walk scheduled for March 26th. I'm so excited and a little nervous. I paid for it, so now I know I have to do it. :) My goal is to do one 5K each month through September. For food, I'm trying to find some good easy and QUICK recipes that are family friendly and also something that doesn't not include pasta, potatoes, bread, or rice - not as easy as you would think. I can't wait for camp to start again next week. Today, even though I woke up not feeling very well, I have a renewed sense of determination to lose the weight I want and to get into that exercise routine. To reward myself for what I have been able to do so far - I am going to make an appointment to Evergreen Beauty college and get my hair colored and hide all that gray hair - EEK. I also am going to take my book and head to the spa just to relax. I still want to meet the other women in this competition, and it hasn't worked out yet. I will have to do that before the end of this competition. The things the other women have shared about their experiences have been very nice and also encouraging to me in my journey.
FLAG Connie - 01.28.2011
Let me know when you would like to get together. Maybe we couldmeet at the spa?
COMMENT FLAG Amy - 01.24.2011
This past Saturday's camp was the toughest yet! My brian kept telling me to stop, but I kept going. It was so good to finish. This week we have an off week for camp, so it will be very important that I continue to work out this week. This will be my one true test! More to come...
FLAG Connie - 01.26.2011
I have the same challenge with working out at home, just go for it, you will be so proud of yourslef. I think it is all about new habits. Keep up the good work.
COMMENT FLAG Kristin - 01.23.2011
Yeah! Amy! I don't know why I didn't know about this, but I'm so proud of you!!!! You will have to teach me all your workout tricks! I got an LA fitness membership and I look so silly just walking on the treadmill!!!! And you're in full blown boot camp!!!! Good job, girl! Love you!
COMMENT FLAG Sherri - 01.19.2011
Hi Amy - I know we have still not got a chance to meet yet but I wanted to just encourage you to keep up all the great work. This challenge has been tough but also fun with learning new exercises and ways to eat better. Good luck!!
COMMENT FLAG Christina - 01.18.2011
Your doing great. Keep up the hard work! I'm proud of you.
COMMENT FLAG Amy - 01.18.2011
Day 8: Today was another great workout at Boot Camp. I can tell I am getting stronger, as I'm able to hold that push up position (pillar) longer than I was able to last week. My work is getting busier and little more stressful, so I'm just trying to stay focused and remember to make the healthy choices with nutrition and to drink my water!!! I'm hoping to try out the Spa today after I leave work and have a little time with God and to relax.
COMMENT FLAG Sue Borchardt - 01.15.2011
Amy, You can do this you are a conquerer and can do all things through Christ who strenghtens you. You are above and not beneth you are the head and not the tail you are blessed blessed blessed. You are an ver comer you have in the past and you will in the future. I love you and what you stand for.
COMMENT FLAG Amy - 01.15.2011
Had bootcamp this morning and man I think that was the toughest one yet! I then went to Costco right as it opened and am now home in time for the Twins naptime. I love having the workout and the shopping out of the way so I can have the rest of the day free. Today is also my free food (cheat) day..and the plan is to still be conscious of what I'm eating and just having a little bit of those things I haven't been able to eat this past week.
COMMENT FLAG Connie - 01.14.2011
Good job Amy, I have not gotten the energy surge yet but am waiting for it to come. Keep up the good work, I look forward to meeting you.
COMMENT FLAG Amy - 01.13.2011
Had my second camp today and before I went I wasn't sure my legs were going to move during the workout. I was able to make it through and now I don't feel as sore as I did before. I'm definately feeling the workout in my key areas! I decided after last night, that working out in the evening will not work with the Twins. So tomorrow I will get up earlier and do my workout before heading out to work. I'm amazed at the energy I am feeling today. Even last night, I wanted to just keep going but forced myself to go to bed.
COMMENT FLAG Hollie - 01.11.2011
Congrats on being in the final 4 & I hope you are having a great time & that it is exactly what you hoped for it to be =)
COMMENT FLAG Amy - 01.11.2011
Day 1 almost complete. Went to my first boot camp this morning. I was amazed at how quick it went by, but boy was I tired! So far I am doing good on the meals - but I am so very glad for the free day! I know in a couple days I won't be longing for my comforts of noodles and rice. :) I can feel a little "burn" in my legs and I'm very proud of myself and how long I was able to stay in the Pillar stance (pushup) - I have NO upper body strength. Can't wait for the next camp!
COMMENT FLAG Amy - 01.10.2011
Tomorrow morning will be my first Boot Camp. I am so excited. I am almost done with my 5 meals and have all the groceries. I am sad that I could not be in the same class with the other 3 participents because of location and work schedule - but hopefully I can meet them sometime. Today I have been doing very good with my meals. At work we are doing the Biggest Loser and I have been trying to be diligent with writing down everything I put into my mouth. Tonight I'm going to finish going through the packet we received and watch the orientation video before I go tomorrow. Praying the snow will stay away so I can get to the church.
COMMENT FLAG Sherri - 01.09.2011

Hi Amy I am Ginny I was one of the final four in this competition last year. I have been debating at what point to introduce myself. I am here for support or whatever else you might need. I am still on my journey and wish you all the best!!!
FLAG Ginny - 01.14.2011
Just watched your video and congrats!! As I told Connie drinking the water is huge. What I found from the carb rotation plan it's not about depriving it's about making better choices and that really helped me alot!

Thank you Ginny! I would love to hear any tips that you gained during your challenge that really helped you. :)

COMMENT FLAG GrungeRun - 01.07.2011
Amy, way to go! :) I lost 90 lbs after having my 2nd child in 2001. I LOVE to eat. LOVE LOVE LOVE it. This was hard for me. I posted my story on MSN's weight loss section a few years ago. I could not afford a gym or nutritionist. I decided I had enough knowledge from all the years of dieting & exercise, knew what worked for me, my body style & metabolism and "just did it". For me. It was hard, it took time & dedication, going through days of failure, pms, mental "I'm too tired!" - but it worked and it was worth it. I'm still working on it. It' definitely is a life style change. And I LOVE to share & encourage other women to GO! ;) My best friend, my soul sister, had twins in 1995 and had to struggle with losing twin pregnancy baby weight too :) She succeeded. God made us women powerful ;) to love our families and ourselves. I'll be thinking of ya'! You Go Girl!

Good luck Amy, you can do it, mind over matter, & if you think you are fat, that's the matter. That learning to cook healthy meals is a great idea. I be checking on that, in about 6 weeks.just joking, but wiss you well in your endeavor, what ever it is.best wishes, Grampa Harry
