You know the struggle with appearance, I think it’s just innately born into everybody, but especially a woman. When I think about the growth of Social Media, and how everybody puts their best face forward, even that puts such a different pressure on us, then just magazines used to. When I was a teenager, it was magazines that I would look at and I’d go “I’m never going to look like that person”. And I still struggle with insecurity; I had an eating disorder through college, really struggled with never feeling that I would ever measure up. I think that if you are looking to society, that is, you will ALWAYS feel like you fall short. It wasn’t until I really learned how to not just have the head knowledge that I’m created in the image of God, but the heart knowledge, that He put His stamp on my life. And when I work on an inner beauty, there’s a scripture in the Psalms that says, “Those who look to the Lord are radiant”, and it really is true! When you have this love and relationship with Lord, it brings a beauty that comes from the inside out and it’s more than a cliché, it really is a reality.
