Napa Fires continue to burn—At least 10 people have lost their lives and dozens injured and more than 1,500 homes destroyed as raging wildfires continued to burn this morning. 20,000 people were evacuated in what some consider one of the most destructive wildfire days in the state’s history.
An Injured hiker has been rescued from Mount Vesper–The man slipped 20 to 30 feet down a gully and suffered head and back injuries. They found the injured hiker who was hoisted out and eventually taken to a hospital for treatment of multiple back fractures.
A major earthquake is expected to hit Seattle, but according to the city more than 1,000 buildings are in need of major retrofitting. The city has discussed mandating retrofitting since the 60s, but tearing up walls, floors and other parts of the buildings has been cost prohibitive. The plan being considered by the city would offer some financial assistance to building owners, as well as time to get the renovations completed.
